And though this has nothing to with Without a Trace, I’m happy Edward James Olmos won “Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series” for his work in Battlestar Galactica. I’m also a huge BSG fan. Woot! Well deserved.

In other news, Anthony LaPaglia made the top 10 in BRW’s annual list of Australia’s top 50 money-making entertainers. [source] [source] [source] In case you are like me and said, “BRW? What the heck is BRW?”, it is apparently an Australian business magazine, a high quality one it seems, and not an entertainment magazine. Go figure.

Mickey: Weber has only signed on for four episodes, so he’s definitely not replacing LaPaglia. Rather, their characters will be adversaries. So where will we be when the season premier arrives in couple (or so) week?

Season finale: Jack Malone (Anthony LaPaglia) is demoted as the head of the FBI unit searching for missing persons. The show ends with Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery) delivering a baby alone and Malone visiting the hospital. What will happen: Malone and Spade, who had an affair, will get back together in a difficult relationship. After a few episodes where Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) heads the unit, Malone will get his old job back, which will complicate his new relationship even further. [source]

Okay, I’m not entirely certain how that fits in with the description of the first episode of the season (particularly with the who-is-in-charge part):

Closure - A man, whose daughter went missing years ago, also goes missing, and the team tries to connect his desire to help another couple missing their son. Meanwhile, Jack is trying to adjust to his new boss, Clark Medina. [source]

Or, if you prefer:

Even though I don’t hold out much hope for TPTB incorporating new characters well (see Elena as exhibit A), I am looking forward to seeing Steven Webber. I like him, and I’m curious about seeing him in the WaT world.

Speaking of the new season… Without a Trace will start on Tuesday, 23 September. Yay! And TV Guide reports that there’s no mention of Samantha’s baby in the first three episodes, so double yay! I know, I know… I shouldn’t be hatin’ on the baby. But I really was not a fan of that storyline. (Okay, let’s be fair - I was not a fan of the entire post-strike part of the season and hope the writers are back on track for Season 7.)
