013 - Hang On To Me

Summary

Chet Collins, a man who has been searching for his son since he was kidnapped 6.5 years earlier on a camping trip, disappears. The case is one that Jack can’t ever let go of, and he goes in search of Chet. Did he finally commit suicide? They follow the trail he left behind and come across information about a baby-selling scam that went bad, eventually finding Chet’s son alive in foster care in another state.

Rating

3 stars Excellent, but the desperation is too difficult to watch. Maybe that means it deserves the full 4 stars, but I can’t quite do it.

The continuation of the story started in 004 Between the Cracks.

Quotes

Danny: Okay, here we go. Sean Collins. Six and a half years worth of dead ends.
Samantha: And this is only half of it.
Martin: And we’re looking for what?
Danny: That’s the fun part. We don’t know.

Martin: So we follow Chet right into the abyss?
Samantha: And, what, we abandon all other theories? I mean, we know that guy was depressed. We know he was acting erratic. He’s got a gun.
Vivian: Jack doesn’t think it was suicide.
Danny: Come on, Viv. Even his wife said he seemed hopeless.
Vivian: Jack doesn’t think it’s suicide.
Martin: Okay, but if we know Chet chose to chase down this… this lead…
Vivian: Martin, don’t even go there.
Samantha: Okay, but we have to raise the question, Vivian.
Vivian: Okay, if you guys don’t want to work on the case, I think you need to take it up with Jack.
Danny: Oh, we’d love to. It just seems like somebody doesn’t want to leave his office today.
