015 - There Goes the Bride

Summary

A bride disappears from her wedding reception. She was a wild teenager, and maybe the wedding was too much and she bailed. But it also looks like she was kidnapped for ransom. We find out the groom’s father, who raised Audrey after her parents died, sexually abused her. He hired a couple people to kidnap her and kill her so it wouldn’t get out.

Notes

Jack has been married 11 years.

The handwriting on the video tapes looks feminine, not like a guy’s writing.

Quotes

Jack: According to the groom, she was an angel.
Martin: I guess love is blind. And deaf. And very, very dumb.
Jack: Spoken like a true romantic.
Martin: What, you going to tell me you still buy into it?
Jack: Sure. Marriage, kids, the whole nine yards. [Martin looks mildly incredulous.] I didn’t say I was good at it. I said I was a fan.

Jack: You neglected to tell us that you got a phone call from the kidnappers, and that you were paying a ransom.
Mr. Beckworth: They said that they would kill her.
Jack: And you thought your extensive knowledge of selling Ming vases would help you prevent that?

Martin: You know I just keep wondering if Charlie knew all along. I mean, he was in that house too. Who knows? Maybe that’s why he married her. He was trying to save her.
Jack: Maybe. Maybe it was love. Why don’t you get out of here. Go on a date or something.
