004 - Between the Cracks
Summary
Eve Cleary, an aspiring model, disappears and it takes days for anyone to notice. It seems like foul play from several sources, and they find out she changed her name from Becky Radowski when she disappeared from her home in Indiana a couple years earlier after being abused by her father, but it turns out that she was just hit and killed by a cab after a bad night where she was almost prostituted.
The secondary story involves Chet Collins, who is the father of a boy who disappeared 5 years earlier. He heard that a guy in prison knows info and wants Jack to look into it. The guy in prison is simply running a scam, though.
Rating
A good, sad story.

Notes
Chet Collins shows up for the first time. He’s a father from one of Jack’s cases 5 years earlier. Chet shows up in a couple later episodes.
Samantha implies she is from a small midwest town and could relate to what Eve left behind.
Quotes
Jack: So we don’t know what she looks like, we don’t know where she is, and we don’t know when she disappeared.
Samantha: This ought to be easy.
Jack: It’s a big city out there. I think if you grow up here you take it for granted.
Vivian: You’re right.
Jack: I wonder how many girls there are like Eve. They come to this town full of hope, but really they’re just these tiny little pebbles that get thrown into a lake so big they barely leave a ripple.
Jack: The head butt was a nice touch.
Danny: No, head bump. That was head bump, not a head butt.
Jack: All right.
Danny: There’s a difference.
